Gorilla Skull
This series investigates Natural History collections and our human tendency to preserve and
study the wonders around us. I find the systematic collecting and preserving (dried, fluid
preserved and mummified) of human and animal remains to be simultaneously fascinating,
disturbing and intensely reflective of the human connection to spirituality and existence. With
these photographs, I elevate the subjects from their storage containers and transcend them
toward immortality.
Paper dimensions: 20” x 24”
